Triumph TR2 Historic Race Engine

We’ve just completed a Triumph TR2 historic race engine. The original block was stripped down and acid dipped. A new set of 83mm liners were sourced along with a custom made set of forged aluminium racing pistons with a custom intruder on the top. The compression ratio is a little over 11:1. The bottom end is all steel and balanced to within 0.5 grams. The cylinder head is one of our own which is flowed and ported with bigger valves, bronze guides and competition double valve springs. We’ve fitted a 320 degree camshaft. We will see what power it makes on the rolling road once the engine goes in the car. If you wish to discuss a historic race engine please email.

Rolling road tuning of Aston Martin V8

This morning saw the rolling road tuning of another Aston Martin V8. First of all we replaced the spark plugs. One carburettor was running fast so all four were balanced. We setup up the idle mixture and idle speed. We then disconnected the kick down cable and gave it a power run to check the fueling across the rev range.

Historic Race Car Support and Development

One of our aims when supporting our clients historic racing activities is to help them achieve better results through the development of their car and their driving. Not all historic cars are competitive in the class and few cars a capable of winning regularly. Even if you are not at the front of the grid we can get you closer. There could be seconds to be made in the proper setup of the suspension and chassis. Springs rates, geometry and corner-weighting can all have big effect on balance and grip. A new engine with steel components might have a higher rev limit allowing it to generate more power. As well as developing your race car we can provide driving tuition. We can help with good habits and techniques that will help shave time off your lap. If you are interested in race support and development please do not hesitate to get in touch by phone or click to email.

Race Preparation for Larry Tucker’s Ashley Midget

The race preparation of Larry Tucker’s Ashley Sprite continues. We have to make some changes to the vehicle to comply with the HSCC Historic Road Sports regulations. The car has to meet a weight limit, a ground clearance limit and have some interior fitted. It also needs number plates and an MOT. If you are interested in race preparation click to email.
