Nash Metropolitan in primer

Nash Metropolitan in primer

Since getting back after Christmas we’ve been working flat out on the Nash. I continued the body work with some filling and shaping before our in house bodywork guru, Ian Goodwright took over for the hardest part of smoothing out all those curves. Today we moved the shell into the paint shop where Ian first laid down a coat of etch primer before 3 coats of 2k epoxy primer. The shell will be left to cure over the weekend before Ian and myself start rubbing down the primer on Monday. Once the primer is flat the shell will receive seam sealer and then the top coat, but what colour will it be? Watch this space.

Nash makes progress

Nash

We’ve been making steady progress on the Nash Metropolitan race car. Almost all of the welding is complete, the roll cage is fitted and the doors, bonnet and boot lid are on for checking the gaps. The right side of the car has no door gaps and after some exploration Graham discovered that the bottom of the ‘b’ post was almost completely un-attached for the sills. They were only held together by 2 very small spot welds. After pulling the shell straight we welded the ‘b’ post and sill together and repeated the procedure on the other side. We are currently working on the pedals which should be the last major job before Ian takes over and starts prepping for paint next week.

Nash Metropolitan Colour Choice

Nash Metropolitan Turquoise

Here at CCK we’ve been arguing for the past couple of weeks as to which colour to paint the Nash Metropolitan. Here are the contenders, Turquoise, Pink, Yellow and Orange. My vote is for turquoise, if you’d like to voice your opinion on this matter feel free to leave a comment. There is still a lot of work to do so we have a few weeks to decide. Now if only they made white wall racing tyres.

Nash Metropolitan Race Car

For next years HRDC Touring Greats season and hopefully an invite to the St. Mary’s Trophy at the Goodwood Revival we have acquired an amazing little Nash Metropolitan. The shell is in remarkable condition with virtually no rust. It has been fitted for a roll cage and is currently waiting to be seam welded, prepped, primed and painted. Can’t wait to see this.
