We had a very tidy and very cammy Escort RS2000 in for a tune. Running a 2.0 litre Pinto engine on twin Weber 48’s.
Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint and GT40 Replica on the rollers
A beautiful little Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint came down from London running rich with very poor fuel consumption. Graham re-jetted the twin 40 DCOE Weber carburetors to achieve a proper state of tune. Also on the rollers was this GT40 replica fitted with Rover V8 and four Weber IDF’s. Due to being sat for some time the carburetors required a strip down and clean before they could be setup on the dyno.
VW Beetle – Weber IDF setup
Dan Bingham brought his 1973 VW Beetle in for a setup on the rolling road. The Beetle has just received a pair of Weber IDF’s. We set his ignition timing, balanced the carbs and set the idle mixture and speed before running it on the rollers. A quick change of the main jets saw the CO up to 5.65%. Spot on.
A pair of 6 cylinder Triumphs on the rollers
A late model Spitfire with 2500cc straight six and carburetors and a 2500 PI with fuel injection. The Spitfire suffered from a misfire at higher revs. Insufficient fuel supply saw the installation of a new Facet fuel pump. A straight forward setup and power run and it is ready for a track day. The PI was suffering from fouled plugs on 4, 5 and 6 and rich running. This was due to a worn out fuel metering unit. A replacement refurbished metering unit was installed and all throttle bodies balanced.
Porsche 911 with Bosch slide throttle fuel injection setup on rolling road
Dave Broughton of 911 Classics brought us a 911 race car running Bosch slide throttle fuel injection. The car was not running right so Dave asked us to put it on the rollers and find out what was going wrong. Graham ran the car up on the rollers and found that it was massively weak. Only 2.04% Co. An adjustment to the injection pump put that right bringing the Co’s up to 6%. The 911 is now delivering 198bhp at the wheels.
