Autosport International with Aurora Bearings and the Bill Thomas Cheetah

We are hitting the ground running in 2019. From January 10th to the 13th we will have the pleasure of joining Aurora Bearings at Autosport International at the NEC, Birmingham. John McCrory of Aurora Bearings invited us to display Ian Burford’s Bill Thomas Cheetah with them on stand 3266. Be sure to come by and say hello.

“Every year at Autosport we try to have a unique American race car on display. This car certainly fits the bill, and we cannot emphasise how pleased we are to work with Ian Buford, as well as Daniel Lackey and CCK to display this historic car at the UK’s premier motorsports show.” – John McCrory, Aurora Bearing Racecar Product Manager

Charles Rainford wins at Snetterton

Charles Rainford scored his first overall win last weekend at Snetterton. He secured pole position and the win driving our Marcos 1800GT in the HRDC All stars race. Following some recent mechanical failures the repaired Marcos was on top form despite the heat wave. We also ran Ian Burford in the Bill Thomas Cheetah but struggled to keep the car cool in the record high summer temperatures. The experience will go into the development of this unique racer.

Solid billet gearbox mount for Cheetah

Through continuous development we’ve discovered the need to solidly mount the Muncie gearbox in the FIA Cheetah. We found some excessive wear on the rear bush and slip yoke. The solid mount will prevent any movement or flex and should eliminate the issue.

Brands Hatch test for FIA Cheetah

We had Ian Burford and his FIA Cheetah out at Brands Hatch this weekend for some testing. The car ran great, Ian got some good time in the seat and we continued to gather information. This test highlighted a few areas that will need attention before the next test at Silverstone in December.
