The Mk3 Mini Cooper S of Martin Roberts is now complete. We’ve cleaned up the engine bay and detailed the various components in there before fitting the freshly rebuilt engine.
Mk3 Mini Cooper S for engine rebuild
This unique black and gold Mk3 Mini Cooper S once belonged to the founder of Newton Commercial. Although there are not that many miles on the engine it has not run much in a number of years and is looking a little shabby. We’ve pulled the original Cooper S engine out for a sympathetic rebuild and to be detailed. We also plan to detail the engine bay before it goes back in.

Mk3 Mini Cooper S engine rebuild
Another classic Mini engine rebuild. David Mansell brought in a very sad looking engine from his Mk3 Mini Cooper S.
“It has been sitting in some rather damp conditions for some 30 years.”
Yes, we can tell. The engine has been rebuilt to fast road spec. Additionally the bore was increased by .020″ to give 1293cc. A Piper 270 camshaft has been fitted and the cylinder head is getting large valves and a port and polish. The gearbox was rebuilt and the whole lot painted in the correct satin black enamel.
