Larry Tucker and son Laurie Tucker were both on point at this weekends Oulton Park Gold Cup. Both Tucker’s were competing in the HSCC Historic Road Sports race, Larry in the Shelby Mustang GT350R and son Laurie in the little Ashley GT Midget. Larry has built up confidence in the Mustang throughout this season and is very much on top of it’s performance. Incredibly this was Laurie’s first race. He went out and blitzed it to win his class.
Oulton Park Gold Cup
We had an eventful Gold Cup this year with Larry Tucker’s Ashley getting t-boned during qualifying and the gearbox in Ian Burford’s Ginetta giving up during Saturday Morning practice. Dave Griffith’s competed in the Guard’s Trophy race in the Triumph TR4 without incident finishing 3rd in class. We managed to source a new gearbox for the Ginetta near Eastbourne so I was able to collect it and bring it up to the circuit in time for Sunday’s race. Ian put in a cracking drive finishing 7th overall from the back of the grid.
3 cars prepped for Oulton Park Gold Cup
HSCC Oulton Park Gold Cup
This weekend we will be attending the 2015 HSCC Oulton Park Gold Cup. We will be running 3 cars this weekend starting with Ian Burford in “Lumbertubs” the Austin-Healey Sprite and Larry Tucker in the Ashley Midget in the Historic Road Sports Race, and finally Dave Griffiths in the Triumph TR4 in the Guards Trophy. Lets hope the weather holds out.
Oulton Park Gold Cup
The rain failed to drown the great atmosphere at one of the seasons best events. With four cars to run in two different races we had plenty of work to do. Ian Burford and Larry Tucker were racing a Lenham Midget and Ashley Midget respectively in the Historic Road Sports. Despite a wet qualifying both drivers competed well with Ian securing 1st in his class. Dave Griffiths and our own Shaun Rainford were competing in the Historic Touring Car race. Dave in his venerable Standard Vanguard and Shaun in the irrepressible Volvo Amazon. Both enjoyed the competition greatly giving the Cortina’s and Alfa Romeo’s a run for their money. Dave finished a very respectable 3rd in his class. I think we will definitely be returning next year.
