Other than a minor shower on the Friday this years Silverstone Classic was DRY and sunny! Shocking. We were there with Ian Burford’s Ginetta G4 and the Mira-Gomes XK140. This year the event seemed better organised despite the hot weather and the massive attendance of racers and spectators. Overall a great weekend. We will be looking forward to next year.
Preparation for Silverstone Classic
This week we are busy in preparation for one of the biggest events on the historic motorsport calendar the Silverstone Classic. At this years event we will be running four vehicles. In the Pre-66 touring car race we will have a pair of BMW 1800TI’s with Stuart Patterson & Paul Bartley in one and Tim Abbott & Oli Webb in the other. For the RAC Woodcote Trophy we will be looking after Joao Mira-Gomes in the Jaguar XK140 and finally for the Guards Trophy race we will be looking after Dave Griffiths in the black and red Triumph TR4.
Jaguar XK140 prepped for Donington Historic Festival
Back for the 2015 season is the Mira-Gomez Jaguar XK140. We picked the car up from Dover last week and put it straight on the lift for a quick prep prior to this weekends Woodcote Trophy race at the Donington Historic Festival. The car will also be competing at Masters Historic festival at Brands Hatch and the Silverstone Classic.
BMW 1800ti’s at Brands Hatch
Monday we were at Brands Hatch for a track day with both of the BMW 1800ti’s. The light blue car is ex-Martin Hines and is currently owned and campaigned by Paul Bartley and Stuart Patterson. The darker blue car is ex-Richard Postins and is owned by Tim Abbott. Both cars will be competing in a number of races this season with HSCC and CSCC as well as the U2TC race at Silverstone Classic.
