Charles Rainford dominated at Snetterton in his Lenham Sprite in the HRDC race. Qualified on pole and went on to lead the entire race up until the last lap when a gearbox issue forced his retirement. A superb performance that will no doubt continue on his next outing.
Charles Rainford has finished his season in style at the HRDC’s final round at Donington Park. Charles but in a cracking drive against some big machinery in a 42 car grid. He qualified 12th and finished 11th and 3rd in class in the Allstars/A-Series Challenge race and also acquired his 6th and final signature to upgrade his license. Watch out for him next season. We are taking a handful of Lenhams down the road to the Historic Lenham Cafe to meet the crews of the 2011 Monte Carlo Winter Challenge as they stop off for a cup of tea before crossing the Channel. Come and join us for the send off and a cup of tea.
The Lenham Le Mans hire car is under construction. The basis for the car was our old Austin-Healey Sprite Racer which Tim Rhodes drove to win the MGOC Midget Challenge in 2005. The rear skins were cut from the car leaving just the boot floor and rear wheel arches. Ian has welded up a bar to stiffen the rear of the car between the two arches and has repaired the edges of the boot floor. Meanwhile I have been constructing a Lenham bonnet and Le Mans rear out of fibreglass. The body is now ready to meet the chassis. This car will recieve our full preparation service and be ready to hire next season for the HRDC Grand Touring Greats.
