A few showers failed to spoil an otherwise pleasant day at Goodwood Motor Circuit for the annual HRDC Trackday. We had a successful day running Dave Griffith’s Standard Vanguard, Mike Haigh’s Ford Falcon and Guy Harman’s Abarth Fiat 1500 and Sebring Sunbeam Alpine Harrington. Both the Abarth and the Harrington will be racing in the 72nd Members Meeting later this month. The Fiat was running its new race engine and performed impeccably with an extra 40bhp. Many other friends were there including Ed Glaister with a very rapid Ford 100E and current BTCC champion Andy Jordan with his father Mike and there recently constructed Austin A40.
Update: Volvo 122S almost ready for Goodwood 72nd
Our Volvo 122S is nearing completion. The engine is done and features a fully balanced bottom end, steel rods, forged pistons and a fully race modified cylinder head. SU HD8 carburetors are providing the air and fuel whilst a tubular manifold takes care of the exhaust gasses. Drivers seat and gauges are installed, a dry cell racing battery, custom wiring loom and fire extinguisher system are all in place. Only a small list of jobs to complete before it is ready for testing before a March debut at the Goodwood 72nd Members Meeting.
Darren Turner’s Turner Mk1 in preparation for Goodwood 72nd Members Meeting
Darren Turner has been invited to race his Turner Mk1 in the Goodwood 72nd Members Meeting. He will be taking part in the Tony Gaze Trophy but before then the little sports car needs some preparation. A new front brake setup has been fitted and we’ve got a Tillett racing seat to go in. The drivers compartment is not very spacious and the Tillett seats are very compact as well as being safe and comfortable.
Brighton Speed Trials Saved!

With huge support for the event Brighton’s Economic Development and Culture Committee has now voted unanimously for the event to continue. The 2014 event is due to take place on September 6th.
Silverstone Classic 2013
Given the weeks of sunshine it looked set to be another glorious weekend at the Silverstone Classic until a monsoon cut short Saturday’s evening festivities. We were support Joao Mira-Gomes and his beautiful Jaguar XK-140. Joao and his wife drive this car from Belgium to the UK on a regular basis to compete in various events. Unfortunately Mira-Gomes had to retire after 40 minutes from the Woodcote Trophy race due to a loss in oil pressure. Photos courtesy of Chris McEvoy.
