Sun shone on Silverstone for HRDC Touring Greats

After endless weeks of snow and grey weather things finally brightened up a little for the first race of the HRDC 2013 calendar at Silverstone on Saturday. We were there supporting Julius Thurgood and Rupert Keegan as they campaigned “Bumble” the ZA Magnette qualifying 12th and finishing 9th overall and 2nd in class B. James turner piloted the Zodiac solo this weekend. The old Ford was running quicker than ever achieving 3rd place in qualifying and holding 2nd place in the race until a loss of oil pressure forced retirement with less than 4 minutes left on the clock. HRDC Season kicks off this Saturday at Silverstone

The HRDC circus will arrive at Silverstone this weekend for the first race of the 2013 season. Touring Greats will be joining the Aston Martin Owners Club this weekend at Silverstone. We are busy preparing the Ford Zodiac for James Turner and “Bumble” the MG ZA Magnette for Julius Thurgood and former F1 driver Rupert Keegan. The Zodiac is wearing a new set of tyres and has seen some Winter development in the form of a fresh engine and stiffer front end. See you there.

F.I.S.C. Spa Track/Test Day – New date Saturday 20 April 2013

Pieter Bakker of F.I.S.C. ‘Legendary Circuits’ series is holding a new SPA test&track DAY on Saturday 20th of April. It is an open pit lane event at a price of only 450 Euros for the day, two drivers included, passengers free and a free F.I.S.C. Body Warmer. Doesn’t get much better than that. HRDC 2013 Racing Calendar

We know have the calendar for the HRDC series. A great number of historic racers seen at Goodwood Revival’s St Mary’s Trophy can been seen for a fraction of the price at some fantastic venues around the country. TC63, MGB50 and Grand Touring Greats have been combined into an “Allstars” race. We will be there at every event supporting our drivers and perhaps even pedalling a car or two of our own. First CCK Historic Breakfast club a huge success!

Thank you to all those who made there way down to visit us on Sunday. The weather was stunning albeit a little fresh first thing. We got through 170 bacon rolls! I was really impressed by the standard of the cars and and enjoyed meeting a lot of new people. Please send us your feedback. I would love to know what you thought. We will be aiming to do this as a quarterly event. We’ll have to see how wintery the weather is but we will aim for February.
