Charles Rainford’s first test at Brands Hatch

Shaun Rainford’s son Charles made his first venture on track since he passed his ARDS test. We headed down to Brands Hatch so Charles could get some seat time with an instructor ahead of his first race with the HRDC at the same venue on June 6th. Charles was and will be driving his red and blue Lenham Le Mans. Lap times came down steadily over the course of the day despite changing weather conditions.

BMW 1800ti’s at Brands Hatch

Monday we were at Brands Hatch for a track day with both of the BMW 1800ti’s. The light blue car is ex-Martin Hines and is currently owned and campaigned by Paul Bartley and Stuart Patterson. The darker blue car is ex-Richard Postins and is owned by Tim Abbott. Both cars will be competing in a number of races this season with HSCC and CSCC as well as the U2TC race at Silverstone Classic. BMW 1800ti testing at Brands Hatch

Today we’ve been at Brands Hatch with Stuart Patterson and Paul Bartley testing their BMW 1800ti ahead of the weekends CSCC race meeting. The car will be competing tomorrow in the Classic K race and the Swinging Sixties race here at Brands Hatch.

New gearbox and racing brakes for a Rover

Brakes really are you best friend in any race car. For safety we always ensure that the brakes are 100% reliable. This often means new cylinders and brake lines. In this instance we replaced the original type master cylinder for an AP Racing item which might be more expensive but is rebuild-able and is design for the rigors of circuit racing. We have also fitted new discs and racing brake pads and machined true the rear drums. As well as the brakes we have replaced the 4 speed overdrive gearbox with a non-overdrive unit. Parts for these gearboxes are hard to come by so we’ve had to build the gearbox using the best parts from all 4 boxes we had. Should be marked improvement for Brands Hatch this weekend.
