Charles Rainford scored his first overall win last weekend at Snetterton. He secured pole position and the win driving our Marcos 1800GT in the HRDC All stars race. Following some recent mechanical failures the repaired Marcos was on top form despite the heat wave. We also ran Ian Burford in the Bill Thomas Cheetah but struggled to keep the car cool in the record high summer temperatures. The experience will go into the development of this unique racer.
Saturday night was the annual HRDC dinner and dance. This years event was hosted at the Eastbourne Grand Hotel and offered the perfect opportunity for a company outing. The food was superb as was the entertainment with Tony Jardine leading the way with notable mentions, anecdotes and impressions followed by a top local rhythm and blues band. Thanks to Julius Thurgood for putting on the event. We all had a cracking night.
Charles Rainford has finished his season in style at the HRDC’s final round at Donington Park. Charles but in a cracking drive against some big machinery in a 42 car grid. He qualified 12th and finished 11th and 3rd in class in the Allstars/A-Series Challenge race and also acquired his 6th and final signature to upgrade his license. Watch out for him next season.
