The 2018 race season is already in full swing. The calendar is filling up fast with race entries up and down the country. Last week saw us at Snetterton with Ian Burford and his 1965 Ginetta G4 racing in the HSCC’s Historic Road Sports.
Last weekend was the HSCC’s Finals at Silverstone. We were there to look after the Tuckers in the Shelby GT350R and Ashley GT and Ian Burford in the Ginetta G4. A successful weekend all around. Larry and Ian had a huge battle for most of the race and Laurie really got the most out of the little Ashley GT getting quicker with every outing.
We’ve got a double header this weekend. We are loading and heading up to Donington Park today for the HRDC race tomorrow then back down to Silverstone for the HSCC meeting at Silverstone. Charles Rainford will be competing with the HRDC in is Lenham Sprite and in Sundays race at Silverstone we will have Ian Burfords in his Ginetta G4 and Larry Tucker in his Ashley GT.
This past weekend we were also at Brands Hatch for the HSCC meeting. Ian Burford was racing his Ginetta G4 and scored another podium with 3rd place overall and Charles Rainford got a trophy for ‘best drive’ for working his way up to 10th overall on Dunlop historic tyres whilst everyone else was on Yokohama’s.
We had an eventful Gold Cup this year with Larry Tucker’s Ashley getting t-boned during qualifying and the gearbox in Ian Burford’s Ginetta giving up during Saturday Morning practice. Dave Griffith’s competed in the Guard’s Trophy race in the Triumph TR4 without incident finishing 3rd in class. We managed to source a new gearbox for the Ginetta near Eastbourne so I was able to collect it and bring it up to the circuit in time for Sunday’s race. Ian put in a cracking drive finishing 7th overall from the back of the grid.
