Straight through exhausts for 72nd Members Meeting

Part of what makes Goodwood so special is racing with un-silenced racing cars. As they would have in period these modern day historic racers will be running straight through exhaust systems and trust me when I say they are rather loud. Today each one of them is going on the rolling road in final preparation for this weekends festivities.

Unusual Steyr Puch Haflinger

This was a first for us. A 1962 Steyr Puch Haflinger. Yep, I hadn’t either. A very clever 4×4 with a 700c boxer engine. The little off roader sits on an ingenious chassis with fully articulated independent suspension with incredible ground clearance. The power as you can imagine will not move a mountain but it won’t struggle to drive over it.

A busy day on the rolling road

First up today we had the unusual but immaculately presented Ford Taunus of Ted Awcock. Some ignition issues were sorted before a successful run on the rollers. John Warburton’s Triumph Stag went on next before Richard Green’s Mini Clubman.

1966 MGB roadster on the rolling road

Mark Weaver’s recently purchased MGB roadster came in for a setup on the rolling road and a general inspection with track driving in mind. This early example looks very tidy in British racing green with white hard top. Look out for this one on track soon.
