A local customer brought in his Porsche 911 for the fitment and painting of a new fibreglass bonnet. The car has been back dated to resemble to original RS from the 70’s. Painted in Porsche’s ‘light yellow’ it now sports a lightweight fibreglass bonnet that fits.

Classic Retrofit Ignition unit tested on our rolling road
Classic Retrofit produce a mappable ignition unit that replaces the original Bosch CDI unit. The CDI+ is a ‘plug and play’ replacement for the original unit and offers microprocessor controlled ignition timing, hard, soft and launch rev limiters, tacho calibration, shift light output, max rpm tell tale and more. We had two Porsche 911’s in with back to back power runs. Although there was no noticeable difference to maximum power the new ignition units made a huge difference at the bottom end. With the original unit the power came in at 2400rpm but with the CDI+ the power came on much earlier at only 2000rpm. This is a significant improvement for real world driving making the car more responsive from low rpm. For more information check out their website at www.classicretrofit.com.
Porsche 911 carburettor repair and rolling road tune
Another lovely example sent our way by Paragon Porsche. This 2.4 litre 911 had a crack in on of the carburettor bodies around a mixture screw. We machined a sleeve to fit around it and pressed it over ensure the crack does not getting any worse. The carburettors were then balanced and setup on the rolling road.
Early Porsche 911 rolling road
Early short wheel base Porsche 911’s are stunning. This one is nearing the end of it’s restoration and looks splendid. Owner Carl Venus has had some trouble with the carburettors since they were rebuilt some months ago. With some new idle mixture screws we were able to setup up and balance the carbs before sorting out the top end.
