Race Preparation for Larry Tucker’s Ashley Midget

The race preparation of Larry Tucker’s Ashley Sprite continues. We have to make some changes to the vehicle to comply with the HSCC Historic Road Sports regulations. The car has to meet a weight limit, a ground clearance limit and have some interior fitted. It also needs number plates and an MOT. If you are interested in race preparation click to email.

Tuning Gavin Watson’s Bordward Isabella

Gavin has been very busy building a twin carburetor setup for his stunning 1500cc Borgward Isabella. A very rare car with a very rare engine. Over the winter Gavin found some extra oomph with a straight through exhaust and air feed to the single down draught carb. Now he’s got two Solex carburetors. Graham has been working on the rolling road to get the engine running perfectly ready for the HRDC Touring Greats race this weekend at Donington.

Turner’s Turner ready for the track

At 9pm Thursday 21 March the Turner was ready for its Goodwood track debut. Many long hours went into getting this car ready but we are all very pleased with the result. There are a few final jobs to be completed before its first race. It is a drastic change from what came in the work shop and it really looks the part now. A proper little historic racer. Keep posted to see how it does and watch the cars development over the coming season.

Turner’s Turner gets full race prep

Now the Mk1 Turner has been painted and put back together it is receiving a full race preparation including a custom built full roll cage, built in house by CCK, extinguisher system, tow straps, new racing harness and Dunlop racing tyres. An oil catch tank will be fitted as well as a dry cell racing battery, racing brake fluid. A new set of leather bucket seats are on there way as is the A35 sourced wiper mechanism. Although this car is only powered by a 1000cc engine it is very light. I am looking forward to seeing how it performs.

Vanguard gets a new heart

Over the winter Graham’s been building a new engine for Dave Griffith’s Standard Vanguard. At nearly 2.5 litres, with steel crank, steel rods, a 320 degree cam, a brand new gas flowed and ported cylinder head, a ported intake manifold and fully modified twin 2″ SU carbs. This should be a significant improvement over the old engine. Can’t wait to see what it does when we get it on the rollers.
