Mike Haigh’s Lenham Le Mans arrived the other week along with a new engine from Swiftune. It’s not been run in a few years so as well as fitting the engine we had to give it a full prep. We installed a 4.2:1 differential and a set of road legal Kuhmo K700 tyres. The rear arches need a bit of work to clear the tyres.
TVR Grantura-Climax
The Coventry Climax engined TVR Grantura of Ian Burford is nearly ready to race. It is now mechanically sound so today we warmed it up and ran it on the rolling road to check everything out. The carburettors appear to be well setup with the correct mixtures. There are a few more jobs to finish off before the car is ready to race.
FIA 1965 Marcos 1800GT rolling road
Shaun’s not had a chance to race his ex-Chris Conoley Marcos 1800GT yet but we are planning on taking it out this season. In preparation for some testing we put it on the rolling road.
Triumph TR4 for Historic Road Sports Preparation
This Triumph TR4 has been stored for many years and has frankly seen better days. It was raced some years ago and everything still works as it should. However, it is tired and needs some proper attention before hitting the circuit. The owners plan to compete in the HSCC’s Historic Road Sports Championship. The suspension and brakes are being stripped and rebuilt. The engine is largely ok although we are rebuilding the cylinder head with new valve springs and fitting a new head gasket and water pump. Among many other small tasks we will be fitting a full height windscreen, making a rollcage and fitting a hard top.
Mini Cooper S GPH1C prepped for track use
The ex-Cooper Works racing mini GPH1C is in the workshop this week in preparation for some serious track use this season. We have fitted a dashbar to the roll cage and replaced the aluminium panels with steel. The car has now been fitted with a extinguisher system from Lifeline, and will receive a new gearbox and limited slip differential from Swiftune. Watch this space for upcoming events.
