The MGA is pretty well stripped now. The body is looking very good in general although it will need new ‘F’ sections. We will complete the necessary welding and repair work to the body before we take it off of the frame. Then the body and the frame can go to get blasted.

A few issues came up on the MOT that required attention. We replaced both front wheel bearings, both upper ball joints and the steering column bushes. The new steering column bushes that were supplied were very poor quality so we sent them back and machined some bushes from nylatron.

Lindi Galloway has owned her Frogeye for over 40 years. Ian Goodwright is in the process of painting the Mini Cooper S body shell. The shell was first coated in zinc phosphate epoxy for long term rust protection. Then the shell could be filled, shaped, primed and prepped for the Island Blue top coat.

In his 27 years of Mini restoration our bodyshop manager Ian Goodwright has never seen an original mk1 Mini shell this good let alone a genuine early Mini Cooper S shell with right hand tank. The term “never been welded” has been used liberally in the past but this shell truly has never been welded.
