Mk1 Austin Mini 850 with a Cooper S inside

We have a beautifully restored mk1 Austin Mini on the rollers this morning. From the outside the car appears to be a standard 850cc model other than the wider rubber but on the inside the car is fitted with a 1330cc engine, twin SU carbs and Cooper S disc brakes. The engine has only recently been built so we are getting the carbs balanced and giving it a base setup for running in.

Painting a Mini Cooper S shell

Ian Goodwright is in the process of painting the Mini Cooper S body shell. The shell was first coated in zinc phosphate epoxy for long term rust protection. Then the shell could be filled, shaped, primed and prepped for the Island Blue top coat.

Ian Gray’s Supercharged ’62 Mini Pickup

Ian Gray’s ’62 Mini pickup sleeper is done and back with it’s owner. When it came in it was very standard and quite well worn in. We’ve repainted the engine bay, built up new subframes with Cooper S discs, poly bushes and Hi-Lo suspension, built an overbored 998cc engine with Speedwell head, Shorrock supercharger and a 5 speed Colotti gearbox. The difference is enormous with a surprising amount of power and a very positive gear change.
