New gearbox and racing brakes for a Rover

Brakes really are you best friend in any race car. For safety we always ensure that the brakes are 100% reliable. This often means new cylinders and brake lines. In this instance we replaced the original type master cylinder for an AP Racing item which might be more expensive but is rebuild-able and is design for the rigors of circuit racing. We have also fitted new discs and racing brake pads and machined true the rear drums. As well as the brakes we have replaced the 4 speed overdrive gearbox with a non-overdrive unit. Parts for these gearboxes are hard to come by so we’ve had to build the gearbox using the best parts from all 4 boxes we had. Should be marked improvement for Brands Hatch this weekend.

Austin Healey 3000 found after 38 years in storage

An Austin-Healey 3000 has been uncovered in a garage in London after being parked for 38 years 1975. The ice blue sports car was owned by a British Leyland employee who used the car to drive to work until 1975 when it was parked in his garage, never to be moved until now. The car is in exceptionally good condition with very little corrosion underneath. The body work is also relatively corrosion free and very straight. Inside we found a British Leyland security pass and the last tax disc dated May 1975. A true time warp.

Bodyshell blasting and zinc phosphate anti rust protection

If you are about to take on a classic car restoration and are considering the options available for stripping your shell and protecting it from rust we can now offer a viable solution. We are now able to offer a blasting service for large or small items followed by a highly durable and flexible zinc phosphate coating. For those of you who don’t want the expense of dipping and potential for trapped chemicals in the seams bleeding through the paint we have a cost effective alternative. Once you are back to bare metal we can spray a coating of zinc phosphate epoxy which is incredibly durable as well as flexible and will protect the metal from rust. Please call or email for more information or an estimate.

Brands Hatch Mini Festival

We had a great time this weekend at the Brands Hatch Mini Festival. We brought down a couple of cars for display and even got to demonstrate them on the parade lap. John Rhodes Mini, GPH1C and our limousine were all very popular. The highlight was a lot of fantastic racing, especially from the FIA pre-66 cars with a cracking drive from AC/DC’s Brian Johnson. It was great to see lots of old friends and make some new ones. Lets hope this concept continues to grow and hopefully we will see you next year.
